Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Chemical Engineer to join our R&D team working on advanced hybrid rocket propulsion systems for aerospace applications. The candidate will contribute to propulsion system chemistry activities including propellant formulation, combustion analysis, thermal performance testing, component material development, and operational support for critical aerospace missions. This role requires strong technical expertise in propellant chemistry, reaction kinetics, thermodynamic analysis, and hands-on testing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Design and optimize propellant formulations for hybrid rocket propulsion systems, including fuel grain compositions and oxidizer-fuel combinations to enhance efficiency and safety.
Conduct combustion analysis and reaction kinetics studies to optimize burning rates, control exothermic reactions, and ensure stable propulsion performance.
Perform thermodynamic modeling and heat transfer analysis for propulsion components, including combustion chambers, nozzles, and thermal protection systems.
Develop and test injector fluid systems, ensuring precise fuel and oxidizer delivery with proper flow rates, temperatures, and mixing ratios.
Conduct experimental testing and performance evaluation of propulsion systems, including static fire tests, material compatibility assessments, and component qualification.
Analyze and select materials for propulsion components that withstand extreme temperatures, corrosive propellants, and high-pressure environments.
Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and design specifications while ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and aerospace regulations.
Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, research papers, and CAD documentation.
Assist in developing advanced fuel system concepts to meet future mission requirements.
Stay up to date with advancements in fuel technology and aerospace industry trends.
Required Qualifications & Skills
1–2 years of experience in propulsion system development, testing, or R&D.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline with emphasis in propulsion, combustion, or thermochemistry.
Strong knowledge of chemistry, chemical kinetics, and combustion processes relevant to rocket propulsion systems.
Understanding of solid, liquid, and hybrid propulsion systems.
Internship or project experience with defense, aerospace, or research organizations (DRDO, HAL, ISRO, or aerospace startups) is highly valued.
Knowledge of safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory compliance for handling energetic materials and hazardous chemicals.
Hands-on experience with experimental testing, data analysis, and performance evaluation of propulsion components or chemical processes.
