Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Propulsion Engineer to join our R&D team working on advanced hybrid rocket propulsion systems for aerospace applications. The candidate will contribute to propulsion system engineering activities including design analysis, performance testing, component development, and operational support for critical aerospace missions. This role requires strong technical expertise in rocket propulsion, computational analysis, and hands-on testing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct experimental testing, ignition validation, and performance evaluations for propulsion motors.
Test fuel compositions to evaluate regression rates and combustion characteristics.
Perform R&D calculations, thermal analysis, and efficiency assessments for propulsion systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate propulsion systems with vehicle structures and subsystems.
Document performance analyses, experimental results, test reports, and technical findings to support ongoing R&D projects.
Perform comparative analysis with published research and industry benchmarks to validate performance improvements.
Support mission operations planning and system integration activities.
Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, engineering reports, research papers, and CAD documentation.
Assist in developing concepts for advanced propulsion systems to meet future mission requirements.
Stay current with advancements in propulsion technology and aerospace industry trends.
Required Qualifications & Skills
1–2 years of experience in propulsion system development, testing, or R&D.
B.E./B.Tech in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Strong understanding of jet and rocket propulsion fundamentals.
Proficiency in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, gas dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat & mass transfer.
Knowledge of solid, liquid, and hybrid propulsion systems.
Internship or project experience with defense, aerospace, or research organizations (DRDO, HAL, ISRO, or aerospace companies) is highly valued.
Hands-on experience with rocket engine projects, static fire tests, or propulsion system optimization is preferred.
Exposure to open rotor engines, ionic thrusters, or alternative propulsion technologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Software Skills
SolidWorks, CATIA V5, Fusion 360, ANSYS Workbench (Fluent), Systems Tool Kit (STK), CFD, FEA, MATLAB/Simulink, NASA CEA, RPA (Rocket Propulsion Analysis), Python, C++, MS Office.
